Homework Excuse

Same story, new verse, today, with a surprise ending…

“Mrs. G, I KNOW you’ll think this is not true…I feel SOOOOO stupid, but it’s TRUE, it IS! I put my binder on top of my car and…”

Right. I did believe her. Totally.

I told her she was just lucky it wasn’t a baby in a car seat that she’d set on top of the car and driven away…not that I really believe that particular urban belief tale, but I might personally know someone who has set her coffee mug on top of the car, then headed off down the street…

Much to everyone’s amusement, an office aide interrupted class about an hour later, with the binder…a bit worse for wear after having survived its tumble off of the car roof, but more or less intact. A neighbor had seen her take off and watched the binder fly.

The homework was deemed by me to be “on time”, as class was not yet over…

I've done it with a gas cap and was amazed at how much they charge for a new one.

Lesson learned. I now open the door and set things INSIDE the car.

And you know the homework wasn't done DURING class and then handed in :)

I think we've all left something on top of the car or lost something in it at least once. For me in was a cell phone. I really, honestly, thought it had fallen out of my purse and was gone. Imagine my chagrin when I found it under my seat when I was giving it the spring time mucking out...

My mom's done that with her purse after church. We found it in the ditch :P
